8 Long Weeks
I played Pirate borg and everything took 8 long weeks
Twice a month I go to a local game night at a local bar and either play or run a tabletop RPG. I bring Shadowdark to run and it doesn't always gather enough attention to kick off.
This time, I got to play in a game of Pirate Borg. I grabbed a random character based on the name and ended up with a 1hp Zealot with an absolute cannon of a special ability. I could cause 1d8 + my spirit modifier of damage to "an enemy I cant see" and my character only had 1 eye.
I'll give you the GM's take on how the session went:
So last night we played the first of my possibly many(...or I emotionally collapse from my social anxiety) sessions of Pirate Borg. We had 4 scoundrels get offered 2500s from Father Lacunza and gave them an enchanted lantern that even emits light underwater. As they got to the island, they looked at the map "finally" and realized it was just a small island with a hole in the center. They arrived to the hole at nighttime but realized there was another pathway leading off in a different direction. They went to see what's over there and scared someone that was on shore due to the never turning off lantern.
One player used his Curse spell as a Zealot and he only has one eye, so he covered it and cast his spell, dealing D8+Spirit to any target he couldn't see trying to hit the person running away. Well, he ended up getting the guy peeing right next to them as the body dropped limp while still urinating. They got some information out of the guy running away that there were about 6 people down in the hole and at least 2 that have been down there a few weeks. They then accidentally finished the guy after getting that information.
The players then stole the dingy that he was going to use to get back to his ship in the distance and brought it back to the hole singing a shanty about "Dingy in the bum hole", claiming the hole in the ground was a giant bum hole, and throwing it down into the hole having it shatter down below. After using all of their devils luck they decided to take a rest and get it back but during one of the shifts, the fire they were using caught some guano on fire and it lit the dingy remains on fire so they casually got up and headed into the hole, leaving everything still, on fire.
Then they came to a split in the cave, continue down or go up? Brian's character went up and stole the grappling hook that was tied up there and came back down. As they progressed further below, they found some water and decided to use the lamp for what it might have been intended for. Underwater activities. Brian's character and Ryan's swam down and saw some shiny objects that they acquired, but almost at the cost of Brian's character. He ended up being broken and now has bronchitis because of all the ingested water. Down below they found a Jade Necklace, obsidian dagger and a gold jug. They also saw some giant claw marks on the wall down below in the water as they were coming back up. Realizing that the waters might be dangerous (because of their inability to swim well), they proceeded to the path that was upward.
Above where they landed, one player saw a cubbyhole of a cave above them. He used a grappling hook and went up there. Throwing a rock against the wall.. scaring and scattering 3 Raptor Bats to attack him. Don's character climbed up and helped with the bats, accomplishing nothing in the assist, but still taking 6 gold coins that were in a chest up there. Ryan's character ended up with a fancy sword. As this was happening, Brian's character traversed further into the cave with the lantern he had and came across a muddy area, 5 clay jars and a long deceased boar beside the jars. He searched the second barrel and came up with nothing, and then searched the 3rd barrel and dodged 3 arrows that flew at his barrel. Inside he found 3 Obsidian arrowheads. The rest of the party met up with them and placed the gold chest that was carrying the gold coins inside of the 3rd clay jar and that is where we called it for the night.
Yes there was a 4th person playing with us, but his character added value by coming up with the shanty and timing how long it took to get everywhere and do everything. "8 long weeks" was the typical time period. Even if it was one round of combat....(He was also the one with the curse skill)
Needless to say I had fun as my character discussed his theory of gravity, everything taking 8 long time units, and otherwise just chaotically bumbling through the adventure while drinking some good beer.
